Did you know, that not that long before we launched The Chubby Frog, we had a wedding photography business?! It feels like forever ago now, but over the course of a decade we shot hundreds of weddings, from Cornwall to Greece, documenting I do’s, big and small. True story! It was such a wonderful experience and one that’s provided us with many fond memories (and more than a few stories!!) that will undoubtedly last a lifetime!
So, with that in mind, can we let you in on a secret?? Yes shooting beach weddings in the south of France was a blast, and big country manors do provide rather exquisite backdrops….but honestly, some of our favourite weddings were the cute & cosy low key wedding receptions held in gorgeous little English pubs. Where the Brides Aunt made the cake and all the decorations were hand made by the grooms Mum, and instead of the couple blowing 30k+ on a wedding (no, judgement, you do you!) they would proudly tell us that instead they now had a deposit for their first home, or they were going to spend the next 6 months travelling together instead. Bliss.
And there’s just something magical about the coziness of a quaint pub and the relaxed vibe that allows guests to ditch the formalities of a traditional wedding and really kick back and relax. So when we started to make plans for The Chubby Frog, we couldn’t help but wonder…. what if…??
What if we could create a space for couples to enjoy their own relaxed and quirky pub wedding?!
We are absolutely delighted to say that we now have bookings for wedding receptions next year (woohooo!) meaning that we get to put all of our experience within the wedding industry to good use and that anyone booking their wedding reception with us will also have access to our little book of suppliers, because after 10 years in the wedding industry we have a whole host of recommendations from Photographers to Make Up Artists and Cake Makers, you know - in case your Aunt Sue isn’t up for the job!
So if you’re scouting Cambridgeshire for a restaurant or small pub style venue that offers character, style and scrumptious food to celebrate your nuptials in a cosy, colourful and some might at quirky pub, we’ve got you! Cambridge Edition once said it best “This hidden gem combines the cosy atmosphere of a quintessential country pub with the cosmopolitan feel of a city cocktail bar” So before you even think about cake, balloons arches (which according to Pinterest have made a come back!) flowers and decor, we’ve already got oodles of colour, atmosphere & character ready and waiting for you…
So… let’s talk specifics! Our entire restaurant is available for exclusive hire with a capacity to host wedding parties with up to approximately 80 - 90 guests when also utilising our garden outside.
We don’t charge extra for the venue hire. Instead we have an all inclusive £4k minimum spend total (inclusive of VAT) that includes your food & welcome drinks, and we close the doors to the public so The Chubby Frog is all yours to celebrate with your family & friends for the day & night! NO hidden extra’s and no unexpected fee’s. We also have an experienced and enthusiastic team at hand, ready to help you set up on the day itself.
When it comes to catering for your big day, you get to work alongside Craig, our Head Chef, to create a menu that’s tailored to you. Craig has an exceptional culinary repertoire along with a passion for creating food that feeds the soul. Anyone that’s dined with us knows that we offer up epic plates of lushness as standard and when it comes to your wedding reception we offer a wide variety of options based on your preferences and budgets, something we work closely with you on to help you achieve.
